The Vice President

The elected President may appoint a Vice President. The appointment lies within the President’s sole and direct authority and requires no approval, consultation, or hearing by the Sanhedrin or any other governmental authority.
Only a citizen of Yehodaya who, on the date of appointment, satisfies all the objective eligibility requirements applicable to a presidential candidate may be appointed Vice President. These requirements concern age, the absence of a criminal record, and a declaration of allegiance.
During the President’s temporary absence or incapacity, the Vice President will take the President’s place and exercise the President’s administrative powers.
In the event of the President’s permanent incapacity, resignation, or death, the Vice President will be sworn in as Acting President. The Acting President’s role will be limited to the continuous routine administration of the state and enforcement of its laws. The Acting President may not initiate substantial policy changes.
Immediately upon taking office, the Acting President must call a special presidential election to be held within 90 days. The winner will be sworn in as the new President and begin a full six-year term.
If the Acting President chooses to stand in this election, the Acting President must obtain the same supporting signatures required of every other candidate.
